Anatomy of a Hat

blog Anatomy of a Hat

It is extremely important to know the characteristics of a hat when choosing it, as these determine both its appearance and functionality.

Brim:

The part of the hat that provides shade to the face. Different brim (visor) shapes (width, length) affect the style. Men's hats have a turned up brim at the back of the hat. Flat brims (visors) can be worn by both men and women.

Crown:

The top part of the hat that determines its shape and height. The crown can be flat, round, high or low, and affects the overall style of the hat. Also, it may have pinches or some protrusion, so-called "dent" (e.g. the hat that has two dents at the edges is called Fedora).

Band:

The ribbon is a decorative element that surrounds the base of the crown. It is made of fabric or leather material and adds elements of style and elegance.

Knowing these characteristics is important to choose a hat that suits both your personal preferences and the environment and weather conditions.
